Research the “Fairness Doctrine.” When did Congress pass the Fairness Doctrine, and what was its purpose? When was the fairness doctrine repealed, and why? Most importantly, what have been the political impacts of the repeal of the fairness doctrine with respect to media coverage in the United States? Would you support reinstatement of an updated version of the fairness doctrine given today’s media environment — why or why not?
