Using the two disciplines used for your Expert Consultation and IDS Roleplay assignments, analyze the approaches and tools the two different disciplines bring to your current event/issue

For each discipline, ask: How does the discipline analyze information? What are underlying assumptions of the discipline? What methodologies does the discipline apply to gathering information? What are the discipline’s major concerns with respect to this situation? What are its potential contributions to address the situation? What questions or concerns does the discipline raise with respect to the situation?

Synthesize the two disciplinary perspectives in order to demonstrate a unique, interdisciplinary integration: That is, identify how the two disciplines, used together, reveal a new perspective on the situation.

• Ask: What is the truth about this issue which you find in the space between disciplines? What makes this synthesis a more valid approach than one which doesn’t include your interdisciplinary thinking? 

Explicitly explain how your education has provided you with disciplinary methods and/or perspectives which aid your construction of this interdisciplinary viewpoint

• Identify an interdisciplinary plan to address the situation/resolve the issue, developed from your synthesis. You don’t need a complete “solution” to a complex/wicked problem, but you should describe how your synthesized approach to the issue provides clear, valid paths forward for action and resolution

Make sure you use citations from a variety of sources – after all, you are synthesizing disciplines. Use scholarly journals, textbooks, readings from other courses, pop culture, interviews, anything relevant to your problem, synthesis, and resolution. You should use at least 8 credible sources. Use APA citation format. Remember: all materials are scrutinized via TurnItIn, so please take care not to plagiarize; cite your sources.
